Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth.

Brief
This is the company's new service, where we don’t know who is the TA. Under such ambiguous situation, how I led the team to narrow the scope down and rolled out this product successfully?
Design Process

Questioning the PRD
Initially, PM and I had different assumption about users. How to validate it through user research?
At first, PM believes that users can directly purchase this service like users who subscribe to our service on our website. But I don’t think so. To figure it out, here is my approach.
First, conduct expert review with MKT
As the user type is relatively vague, it’s hard for me to directly access users. I decided to conduct expert review with marketing department. My goal is to understand :
1. users' needs
2. the current inquiry process
Then, gather and organize insights
Here are the insights I found from expert review :
1. Based on different purchasing requirements, we must divide customers into 2 types(to B : need a formal contracts/to C : can directly purchase with credit cards)
2. The advantage of Giloo is that we have a large number of unique topic videos that other platforms do not have. The combination of these in-depth movies can meet the diverse users’ needs
Last, take actions
I set up a meeting to revise the initial assumption. I prepared 6-pagers, which includes scope, flow, assumptions, goal..etc to clearly explain to the team(PM/Dev/MKT)
Mapping the user flow out
Using User Flow Map to identify potential issues in the early stage of development
Before jumping into the visual stage, I use flow map to let PM understand the scope and steps involved .
Thus, we decided to launch the B2B service through google sheets as for efficiency compared to making in-site web pages.
Conduct Rapid Testing
Discover the blind spots and learn quickly through Casual UT (User Testing)
To keep the testing focused and goal-oriented, here is how I do it :
1. Goal setting
2. Observing
3. Result analysing
Valuable feedbacks from testing (we use figma) :
Users can hardly understand the relationship between buying serial numbers as tickets and holding a curation online
Design Highlights
Adjust designs instantly based on test feedback
• Use visual explanations (visual helps) in every decision-making scenarios (key touchpoints)
• Highlight our strengths (in-depth movies) with a clear spec on landing page See Landing page here
• Bring up the performance for easily tracking
Learning
Though many things still can’t be shown because of NDA, the impact of design is clearly shown to the team in the process. And be able to leverage other roles made me a better designer!
